4-Day Malindi Camping & Adventure Itinerary

Day 1: Travel Day with Stop-Overs

04:30 AM : Meeting time at International House, Opposite Maasai Market.

04:45 AM: Departure from Nairobi.

Early Morning :Road trip begins with a scenic drive, brief stopovers for breakfast takeaway (Emali) bathroom breaks, and lunch along the way. 

N/B: Enroute Meals are self-sponsored.   

Mid-Morning: Team-building activities at a stopover to energize the group before proceeding to the lunch stop.  

Evening: Arrival in Malindi, set up camp, and settle in.  

Relaxation by the beach, unwinding with soft music or games.  

9:30 PM: Dinner is served at the campsite 

Late Night:  Bonfire session with music, games, storytelling, and socializing.  

Day 2: Hell’s Kitchen & Mambrui Sand Dunes

06:30 AM – 07:00 AM:Wake-up call and freshening up.  

07:00 AM – 08:00 AM:Sunrise beach walk and optional light morning exercises.  

08:00 AM :Breakfast at the campsite 

Early Morning – Mid Morning:

– Visit Malindi Marine Park for snorkelling and a glass-bottom boat tour to see coral reefs, tropical fish, and marine life.  

-Dolphin watching if conditions allow.  (This is an added activity on the itinerary therefore, self-sponsored)

Afternoon: Early Lunch at a local restaurant.

Late Afternoon – Evening: 

  • Drive to Hell’s Kitchen in Marafa to witness the natural sandstone canyon with dramatic colours, learning about its history and myths. We will be walking and eat here before hiking.  
  • Visit Mambrui Sand Dunes for swimming, sunset photography, sand-boarding, quad biking and relaxation.  
  • Dinner at the campsite

Late Night: Relaxation, stargazing, or beach bonfire session with light music.  

Day 3: Historical & Scenic Exploration

06:30 AM – 7:00 AM: Wake-up call and morning preparations.  

07:00 AM – 08:00 AM: Breakfast at the campsite.

Early Morning – Mid-Morning: 

  • Visit Vasco da Gama Pillar, a famous Portuguese landmark with historical significance.
  • Visit Butwani Bride  
  • Explore Mida Creek, a UNESCO biosphere reserve with mangroves. Enjoy an optional  canoe ride, walk along the boardwalk, and learn about conservation efforts and lunch.  

Afternoon – Evening:

  • Tour Gedi Ruins, an ancient abandoned Swahili town, with a guided history session and exploration of the ruins.  
  • Transfer to visit to Lichthaus is provided. There is an entry fee of approx 1200 which is redeemable at the resort. Therefore, we will have late lunch here.
  • Transfer back to the campsite.
  • Dinner is served.

09:00 PM – Late Night: Optional night beach walk, game night session, or relaxing at the bonfire.  

Day 4: Departure to Nairobi

06:00 AM – 07:00 AM: Wake-up call, pack up, and final moments at the beach.  

07:30 AM – 08:30 AM: Breakfast is served.

09:00 AM –  Check out and depart from Malindi.  

12:30 PM – 02:00 PM: Lunch stop along the way.  

02:30 PM – 07:30 PM: Continue the journey with short bathroom stopovers.  

10:00 PM: Estimated Time of Arrival in Nairobi, end of the trip.

Clothing & Accessories (Hot Weather Considerations)

Light, breathable clothes (cotton or linen) – t-shirts, shorts, flowy dresses, loose pants.  

Swimsuits & cover-ups for the beach and marine activities.  

Wide-brim hat or cap for sun protection.  

Sunglasses (UV protection recommended).  

Sandals & flip-flops for the beach.  

Comfortable walking shoes for historical site visits.  

Light sweater or shawl for cool evenings.  

Quick-dry towel for beach activities.  

Camping Gear

Light Sleeping bag/Maasai Shuka/ light blanket (for warm nights).  

Small pillow for better rest.  

Headlamp or flashlight.  

Power bank.  

Portable fan or cooling towel (for heat relief).  

Tents and Sleeping Mats are provided.  

Toiletries & Essentials

High SPF sunscreen.  

Insect repellent (for mosquitoes and sandflies).  

Wet wipes & tissues.  

Personal hygiene items (soap, toothbrush, deodorant, lotion etc.).

Reusable water bottle (we’ll have drinking water in the truck for refilling).

Dry bag for electronics & valuables.  

Small backpack for day trips.

  1. Non-Refundable Payments
    • All payments made for the trip are non-refundable.
  2. Trip Credit for Future Use
    • If you cancel your booking at least 7 days before the trip, your payment can be utilized within 90 days on any of our other trips.
  3. Cancellations Within 7 Days of the Trip
    • If you cancel less than 7 days before the trip:
      • With a replacement: Your payment is fully redeemable for another trip.
      • Without a replacement: Your payment is non-redeemable and will be forfeited.
