Starting from the Sirimon Gate, this route offers a gradual ascent, making it accessible yet challenging for trekkers of varying skill levels. As you journey through lush montane forests, you\u2019ll be greeted by the calls of exotic birds and the sight of colobus monkeys leaping through the canopy. Emerging from the forest, the trail leads you into the dramatic moorlands, dotted with giant lobelias and synecious that stand as silent sentinels against the backdrop of rugged peaks.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>There will be 3 Prep Hikes that you can join in preparation for the mountain challenge:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mt. Satima &#8211; 6th July<\/li>\n<li>Rurimeria Hill &#8211; 13th July<\/li>\n<li>Elephant Hill &#8211; 20th July<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>ITINERARY<\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"acc-item-2976209471-collapseOne\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse show\" aria-labelledby=\"acc-item-2976209471-headingOne\">\n<div class=\"accordion-body\">\n<p><strong>DAY 1<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Nairobi \u2013 Chogoria Park Gate ( 2,950m ) &#8211; Lake Ellis ( 3,450m ).<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Leave from hotel\/residence early morning and drive via the great northern road passing rice plantations and eastern highlands arriving Chogoria town in 4 hours.<\/p>\n<p>It is from this town you will meet the rest of your climbing crew (porters and guides) and proceed with the driving through rain forest for about 1 hour.<\/p>\n<p>Check in the park, have lunch and all the formalities involved ( note that the park entrance fees are only payable via Mpesa or credit card).<\/p>\n<p>The trekking starts at Chogoria park gate through rush forests via Nithi waterfalls proceeding to lake Ellis. Dinner and overnight at your campsite.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Altitude gain<\/strong>; 1,750m<br \/>\n<strong>Hiking distance<\/strong>; 9km<br \/>\n<strong>Hiking time<\/strong>; 3hrs.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Highlights<\/strong><br \/>\n-Nithi falls<br \/>\n-Lake Ellis sunrise chase<br \/>\n-Mugi Hill<\/p>\n<p><strong>DAY 2<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lake Ellis \u2013 Mintos camp 4200 m asl<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After having breakfast, leave the camp trekking along a single trail through alpine and moorland vegetation.<\/p>\n<p>Lunch will have been packed for you.<\/p>\n<p>Dinner and night at your campsite and enjoy a magical sunset view from the camp<\/p>\n<p><strong>Altitude gain<\/strong>; 750m<br \/>\n<strong>Hiking distance<\/strong>; 9 Km<br \/>\n<strong>Hiking time<\/strong>; 6-7hrs<\/p>\n<p><strong>Highlights<\/strong><br \/>\nTemple view<br \/>\n-Mintos lake<br \/>\n-Gorges Valley<br \/>\n-upper simba tarn &amp; Lewis tarn<br \/>\n-Temple view<\/p>\n<p><strong>DAY 3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mintos camp &#8211; Summit attempt (Lenana peak) &#8211; Shipton camp (3,300m) &#8211; Old mosses &#8211; Nairobi<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wake up at 0230 hours, have a simple breakfast and hit the trail in the dark for the summit catching up with sunrise on time at the summit.<\/p>\n<p>This is the most breathtaking moment and unforgettable experience of all. If the weather<br \/>\nis very clear, Me Kilimanjaro is visible from this point.<\/p>\n<p>After taking some photos start descending via Sirimon 9oute up to Shipton&#8217;s Camp (4,200m for full breakfast at the foot of the mountain then head on our way to Old mosses camp.<\/p>\n<p>We leave the camp trekking down along the Mackinders valley to Met station camp (3,300 m) and spend the night at camp after a successful summit.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hiking descent from the summit<\/strong>; 16.5km Hiking descent time; 6-7h95<\/p>\n<p><strong>Highlights<\/strong><br \/>\n-Mt Kenya Lenana summit and sunrise chase<br \/>\n-Upper and lower Simba tarn -Haggis tarn<br \/>\n-Mackinders Valley<br \/>\n-Mt.
