Emerging from the forest, the trail leads you into the dramatic moorlands, dotted with giant lobelias and synecious that stand as silent sentinels against the backdrop of rugged peaks.

The path winds through the picturesque Liki North Valley, offering panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and distant hills. At Shipton’s Camp, nestled at the base of the towering Batian and Nelion peaks, you’ll prepare for the final push to Point Lenana, the third-highest peak of Mount Kenya. The pre-dawn summit attempt rewards you with breathtaking views of the sunrise illuminating the Kenyan landscape, a sight that makes every step of the climb worthwhile.

This route on Mount Kenya is the most beautiful and rewarding for hikers interested in spectacular landscapes and sceneries. The route
takes you through places like; Lake Ellis, Nilhi waterfalls, and lake Michaelson.
This route is exclusively on camping basis with time to local explore around your campsites thus making it enjoyable.

Tour Plan

Nairobi – Chogoria Park Gate ( 2,950m ) - Lake Ellis ( 3,450m ).

Leave from hotel/residence early morning and drive via the great northern road passing rice plantations and eastern highlands arriving Chogoria town in 4 hours.

It is from this town you will meet the rest of your climbing crew (porters and guides) and proceed with the driving through rain forest for about 1 hour.

Check in the park, have lunch and all the formalities involved ( note that the park entrance fees are only payable via Mpesa or credit card).

The trekking starts at Chogoria park gate through rush forests via Nithi waterfalls proceeding to lake Ellis. Dinner and overnight at your campsite.

Lake Ellis – Mintos camp 4200 m asl

After having breakfast, leave the camp trekking along a single trail through alpine and moorland vegetation.

Lunch will have been packed for you.

Dinner and night at your campsite and enjoy a magical sunset view from the camp

Mintos camp - Summit attempt (Lenana peak) - Shipton camp (3,300m) - Old mosses - Nairobi

Wake up at 0230 hours, have a simple breakfast and hit the trail in the dark for the summit catching up with sunrise on time at the summit.

This is the most breathtaking moment and unforgettable experience of all. If the weather
is very clear, Me Kilimanjaro is visible from this point.

After taking some photos start descending via Sirimon 9oute up to Shipton's Camp (4,200m for full breakfast at the foot of the mountain then head on our way to Old mosses camp.

We leave the camp trekking down along the Mackinders valley to Met station camp (3,300 m) and spend the night at camp after a successful summit.

After Breakfast, we begin our descent to the gate ready for pickup.
