7-Day Uganda & Rwanda Trip Itinerary

Nairobi → Jinja → Kampala → Kigali → Kampala → Nairobi

Welcome to an unforgettable journey across Uganda and Rwanda this festive season.

This trip is the perfect blend of adventure, culture, and breathtaking landscapes. This itinerary is crafted for travellers seeking a seamless, exciting, and comfortable East African experience.

All accommodations are in 3-star hotels, on a Half-Board Meal Plan (Breakfast & Dinner).
Final hotels booked will be confirmed once we have the total number of guests a week prior to the trip.

DAY 1 Nairobi → Jinja

Morning

• Meet in Nairobi for a scenic cross-border journey into Uganda.
• Drive through lush countryside and vibrant markets along the route.

Afternoon

• Arrive in Kisumu, stop over for lunch (self-sponsored)
• Proceed to Busia One-Stop Border Post and clear with immigration & drive to Jinja.

Late Evening

• Check in to your hotel and refresh after the journey.
• Enjoy a relaxing dinner at the hotel.
• Optional: Night-out experience in Jinja for those who want to explore the town’s vibrant nightlife

DAY 2 — Jinja Adventures + Kampala Highlights

Morning — Jinja Adventure Activities

• Start the day with optional thrilling activities such as:
  • Bungee Jumping (Optional)
  • Ziplining (Optional)
  • Boat ride on the Nile & Source of the Nile Visit 

• Perfect for adrenaline lovers and nature enthusiasts.

Afternoon — Kampala City Experiences

• Transfer to Kampala.
• Visit important cultural and historical sites:
  • Kabaka’s Palace
  • Gaddafi National Mosque (for panoramic city views)

Evening

• Check in at your Kampala hotel for dinner and relaxation.
• Optional nightlife plan for interested guests.

DAY 3 — Kampala → Kigali (Full Day on the Road)

Morning

• Begin your scenic road trip to Rwanda, enjoying Uganda’s rolling hills and local life along the way.

Afternoon

• Continue the journey with short breaks, refreshments, lunch stops, and photo opportunities.

Late Evening

• Arrive in Kigali and check into your hotel.
• Dinner and overnight stay.
• Optional night-life experience in Kigali.

DAY 4 — King’s Palace Museum + Kigali City Tour

Morning — King’s Palace Museum

• Drive to Nyanza to explore the Rwandan King’s Palace Museum, known for its rich royal heritage and the majestic traditional Inyambo cows.

Afternoon — Kigali City Tour

Return to Kigali for a guided cultural and historical tour, including:

Modern Kigali city highlights

• Dinner at the hotel.

DAY 5 — Nyungwe Forest & Lake Kivu Day Trip

Morning — Nyungwe Forest

• Depart for a breathtaking day trip to Nyungwe Forest, one of East Africa’s oldest rainforests.
• Activities include canopy walks & nature trails.

Afternoon — Lake Kivu

• Proceed to Lake Kivu for lakeside relaxation.
• Enjoy a quiet afternoon by the lake with optional boat rides, photo moments, and stunning views.

Evening

• Drive back to Kigali for dinner.
• Optional nightlife in Kigali.

DAY 6 — Kigali → Kampala

Morning

DAY 7 — Kampala → Nairobi

• Depart Kampala for the final return journey to Nairobi.

• Scenic drive with stopovers and refreshments.
• Clear with immigration at Busia Border. Guests may exchange their cash back to KES at the border, where rates are fair and convenient.

Late Evening

• Arrive in Nairobi.
• End of the tour with beautiful memories across two stunning countries.

For convenience, cash can easily be exchanged at the Uganda and Rwanda border points.
Guests may carry Kenyan Shillings or USD, and exchange as needed during the trip.

• Visa requirements depend on nationality—options include:
  • East Africa Tourist Visa
  • Uganda or Rwanda single-entry visas
• Yellow Fever Vaccination

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Accommodation:        

Hotels and lodges are classified based on their category and standard. Room reservations will be made at designated 3* hotels/lodges. All bookings are subject to availability. If the preferred hotel is fully booked at the time of reservation, an alternative hotel of the same rating and quality will be recommended.   Accommodation on single basis comes at an extra cost of 2,500 per night. 

Transportation & Driver/Guides:     

Enjoy a comfortable journey with us in an overland truck, chosen based on the route and destination. This is a GROUP TOUR, ensuring a comfortable experience for everyone. Minor delays may occur, as group tours require coordination of multiple travellers. We always ensure comfort and safety throughout the journey. The company reserves the right to employ the service of subcontractors. 

Alteration to tours:

The company reserves the right to alter arrangements of the route or to cancel the operation of a scheduled tour should conditions necessitate such as weather or political issues etc. that are beyond our control.

 Liability:

We act as your trusted travel coordinators, ensuring seamless experiences throughout your journey. While travel is an exciting adventure, it may come with unexpected challenges such as weather conditions, transportation changes, or unforeseen circumstances. Your safety is our priority, and we work with reliable partners to provide the best possible service. However, since some situations might be beyond our control, we highly recommend securing comprehensive travel insurance for peace of mind. Our team is always available to guide you and provide information on local services to make your trip smooth and enjoyable!

Cancellation Policy:     

Any payments made will be refunded less the cost of cancellation levied by hotels or other parties. In the event of such cancellation, the following charges will apply:

 0 – 10 Days prior to the tour no amount is Refundable.

 10 Days – 1 year Prior to Safari, A credit Note will be issued to be utilized with no cancellation fees applied.    

More than a Year – The Deposit will be refunded with 3.5% Transaction Charge Special

Early check ins and late check outs are subject to availability and at the discretion of the hotel.
