Mt. Suswa Hiking & Camping
October 5, 2024 @ 05:00 - October 6, 2024 @ 19:30
Let’s Go Camping!!
Camping at Mt. Suswa offers a unique and adventurous experience, surrounded by the raw beauty of nature. Mt. Suswa, located in the Great Rift Valley, is a dormant volcano with a double crater and vast lava tubes that have formed numerous caves and steam vents. These steam vents create a magical atmosphere, especially in the early morning or late evening when mist rises from the ground, giving the surroundings a mysterious vibe.
One of the main attractions is the 75+ Volcanic Caves, which are some of the largest and most accessible volcanic caves in Kenya. As you explore these caves, you’ll come across bat colonies and fascinating rock formations. The caldera itself is breathtaking, with scenic views of the surrounding valleys and hills.
Camping at Mt. Suswa allows you to immerse yourself in this volcanic landscape, surrounded by wildlife like baboons, zebras, and occasionally, hyenas. The peaceful isolation and natural beauty make it an excellent spot for stargazing at night, enjoying campfires, and connecting with nature.
